Obituary for John P. Schmidt

John P.  Schmidt
John P. Schmidt, age 60, of Belleville, died at 12:41 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015 at his residence. He was born September 29, 1955 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Lyons) Schmidt. He married Laura Whetstone. She survives. Also surviving are three sons: Bradley V. (Katie) Schmidt, Brian E. Schmidt and Shannon B. Schmidt, all of Belleville; two grandchildren: Renae Michalka and John Schmidt; and eight siblings: Robert (Kathy) Schmidt of Belleville, Steven (Colleen) Schmidt of Chicago, Sharon Cooms of Fairview Heights, Billy (Pam) Schmidt of New Athens, Barbara Klein of Belleville, James (Carol) Schmidt of Belleville, Terry (Amy) Schmidt of Belleville and Tony Schmidt of Belleville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Burton.
Mr. Schmidt was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was employed by Metro-Link as a Traction Power Manager.
Visitation will be from 12 noon - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Kalmer Memorial Services, located on Rt. 50 between Lebanon and O'Fallon. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation with Pastor Steve Rogier, Pastor of Community Bible Church in Swansea, officiating. After the service, his remains will be cremated and his ashes interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
