Obituary for Joseph F. Wessol

Joseph F.  Wessol
Joseph F. Wessol, age 96, of Belleville, died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at his son’s residence in Carlyle.

He was born April 2, 1922 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of the late John and Cora (Frakes) Wessol. He married Thelma Nauyoks exactly 71 years ago, May 24, 1947. She survives.

Mr. Wessol was a veteran of WW II from 1942-1946, serving in the US Navy, Aviation Machinist Mate in the South Pacific. After his military duties, Mr. Wessol worked in Manufacturing at Swift Packing Company for 30 years and Hunter Meats for eight years. He later worked at Belleville Township High School East as a boiler room operator for 11 ½ years. He was an avid hunter, gardener and outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the love of his life.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two children: Sid (Kay) Wessol of Carlyle and Debra (Jim) Rapp of Waterloo, IL; four grandchildren: Joel Wessol (Sheril) of Springfield, IL, Patrick (Amanda) Wessol of Greenville, IL, Elise Wessol (Patrick) of Urbana, IL and Jaclyn (Alan) Wessol of Peoria, IL; and one sister, Elizabeth (the late Jim) Fox of Muncie, IN.

Besides, his parents, Mr. Wessol was preceded in death by his siblings: Mike Wessol, Harry Wessol, John Wessol, Helen Aue and Mary Wessol.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated and no services will be held.
