She was born on Monday, August 8, 1920, on the family farm in Hamel Township, Madison County, Illinois, the daughter of the late William F. and Adella T. (Wieneke) Vieth.

At the age of 14, she left the family farm to become an Au Pair for a prominent Edwardsville family. As a result, she never completed high school but was very proud that she received her GED in 1979. After her marriage to Charlie, they set up housekeeping in Edwardsville where she lived the rest of her life until moving to Eden Village in 2013. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, playing pool, bingo and pinochle and she played the piano by ear. She and Charlie especially enjoyed dancing to Glen Miller’s “In the Mood”. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
She is survived by one daughter: Marlene M. (Lynn) Ripper of Edwardsville; two sons: William R, (Wanda) Caulk of Chesterfield, Missouri and James C. (Deborah) Caulk of Edwardsville. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Laura L. (Paul) Zeigler of Glen Carbon, Lisa A. Ripper of Edwardsville, Jason W. (Michelle) Caulk of Tampa Florida, Jennifer R. (Jared) Fravell and Daniel R. (Nicole) Caulk all of Edwardsville and five great-grandchildren: Natalia Comte of Missouri, Carter, Austin and Ethan Russell of Chesterfield and Hadley Fravell of Edwardsville.
