Melanie O'Brien (Skelt)
Melanie M. O'Brien, age 58, of Highland, died at 6:15 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at St. Jospeh's Hospital in Highland. She was born November 5, 1955 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of Dolores (Bourque) Skelt of Jacksonville, FL, and the late Richard Skelt. She is survived by two children: Jessica (Steven) Stevenson of Lebanon, IL and Jarett O'Brien of Highland; her long-time boyfriend, Michael Koberczky of Highland; four brothers and sisters: Mike (Julie) Skelt of Highland, Rick (Beulah) Skelt of Rochelle, IL, Sharon Cisneros of Morongo Valley, California, and Diane (Robert) Thorpe of Jacksonville, FL; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. O'Brien was a retired cook. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and crafts, and spending time with family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Kalmer Memorial Services, on Rt. 50 between Lebanon and O'Fallon. Internet visitors may register online at www.KalmerMemorialServices.com.
