Sylvia Schad, age 69, of Belleville, died at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville. She was born January 18, 1949 in Carrollton, IL, the daughter of the late Clayborne and Alice (Hamm) Wallis. She married Robert Schad. He preceded her in death August 21, 2009.

Sylvia is survived by four children: Sheila (Seth) Smith of Vianna, IL, Gary (fiance Laura) Shelton of Percy, IL, Jamie (Chris) Sostman of Camdenton, MO and Bobbie (Christopher) Laux of Belleville; six grandchildren: John Brackenbusch, Jordan Ries, Andrew Sostman and Katie Sostman, Christopher Brackenbusch and Austin Laux; and three great-grandchildren: Charlotte Ries, Silas Brackenbusch and Eli Brackenbusch. She is also survived by several siblings.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanie A. Schad.

According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated and no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be given to the family to help offset final expenses.
