Obituary for John G. Currier

John G. Currier
John G. Currier, age 67, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville with his loving family by his side.

John was born November 22, 1949, in Fall River, Massachusetts, the son of the late John F. and Eileen (Duffy) Currier. He is survived by his wife, Karen (Tripp) Currier. They were married on October 4, 1975, in Cincinnati, Ohio. John was a dedicated father and is also survived by his “number one fans”, children Kelly Jane Currier and Michael Clayne Currier, both of whom reside in St. Louis, Missouri.

He is further survived by his loving Aunt Wanda (Currier) Longshaw of Tiverton, Rhode Island; cousins Lydia (Ray) Jefferson of North Dighton, Massachusetts; Cheryl Walsh, Massachusetts; sister, Glynnis (Steve) Hirsch of El Cajon, California; brother, Bradley Currier of El Cajon, California, and a host of many dear friends.

John was employed by Emerson Electric and the General Electric Company, and a graduate of Boston College (BS) and Webster University (MA). He was also a Vietnam veteran graduating from the U.S. Navy’s Flight School in Pensacola, Florida. He enjoyed golfing ~especially with his children~, appreciated music (he attended Woodstock, too!), history, reading, and was active in the Boy Scouts as a scout leader in Wisconsin. John was passionate about photography, being well known for his photography business in the early 80’s, Yukon Productions, based out of rural Waukesha County.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in 2017 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Lewis & Clark Illinois Historic Site in Hartford, Illinois, one of his favorite places to visit and educate others as a volunteer (at http://www.campdubois.com/Application1).
