Obituary for Charles Brooks

Charles Brooks, age 78, of Belleville, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at his residence. He was born November 5, 1937, in Sidney, NE, the son of Richard O. and Ardie (Kaler) Brooks. He married Karin Kesselring January 17, 1961 in Ramstein, Germany. She survives. Also surviving are two sons: Frank (Andrea) Brooks of Chicago and Marc (Beth) Brooks of St. Louis; five grandchildren: Jared (Samantha) Twiss-Brooks, Hanna Twiss-Brooks, Arianna Brooks, Xavier Brooks and Oliver Brooks; and two brothers: Jimmy (Maxine) Brooks and Wendell Brooks. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard D. Brooks; and a sister, Donna Brooks.
Mr. Brooks was an aeronautical engineer, employed as a civilian with the Unites States Army, retiring in 1999. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force and was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Freeburg.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 612 N. State Street, Freeburg, IL 62243. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation. A luncheon will be served following the service. His cremated remains will be interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015.
