Obituary for Leonard Pagliaro

Leonard (Lenny) Pagliaro, age 94, of Fairview Heights, IL, formerly of Winter Park, FL, passed away peacefully at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL. He was born in New York, NY, April 3, 1919, the son of the late Giovanni Battista and Rosaria (Panebianco) Pagliaro who both emigrated from Italy. He is survived by his three children: Marc (Tokae) Pagliaro of Fairview Heights, IL, Tana (Jim) Reagan of Herndon, VA and Noel (Daryl) Wier of Orlando, FL., two grandchildren: Jackie and Jimmy Reagan, and his sister Anne (Gaetano) Ragan of Port Charlotte, Fl., as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A first generation American, Lenny proudly served in the US Army Air Corps and later the US Air Force, and was a World War II veteran, having seen combat in both the European and Pacific theater, retiring in 1962. After his retirement, he was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was married for 56 wonderful years to his loving wife Phyllis (Thompson) who passed away in 2012. He enjoyed collecting, repairing, and selling antique clocks, and was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC).

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, Il. Military Funeral Honors will be provided at Arlington National Cemetery later this year.
