Uncle Lenny

Lenny Pagliaro was one of my many great-uncles but like several of the others, he was in the same age bracket as my father Sal, and two of my father's brothers-- Johnny and Clem. As an aside, that turned into a real blessing because his children are in the same age bracket as my siblings and me, and his grandchildren are the same age as my children. Anyway, although he and his kids were the same age, Uncle Lenny lived I'm Florida and we were all in NY, so we only saw them a few times while growing up. One time was during a family vacation. We went to Uncle Lenny's house and naturally, my three strongest memories were a) how I gasped when I saw him because of the resemblance to Uncle John, b) getting to know Tana and Noelle and.. 3) The clocks! I had never seen so many interesting clocks. Like all of the Valente men I knew, these Pagliaros obviously had minds for mechanics and details. I was impressed. And he gave my parents a clock as a gift, and they displayed it proudly at home. I am grateful that I was able to spend a little bit of time with Uncle Lenny as an adult -- especially at his 90th birthday party. It was a treasure, being able to sit and listen to him tell stories of all the ones who went before him. God bless him for having the good sense to marry Aunt Phyllis ;-) and raise such wonderful children.
