Lois H. Andes, age 91, of St. Jacob, died at 8:03 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at her residence. She was born April 1, 1922 in South Fork, PA, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Berkey) Helsel. She married Kenneth Andes October 5, 1978. He survives. Also surviving are two children: Vince Phillips of San Antonio, TX and April Phillips of Enterprise, AL; two step-sons: Kevin Andes of St. Jacob and Keith Andes of Chesterfield, VA; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Phillips.

Mrs. Andes was a florist. She also worked in administration for the Virginia State Police. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Chesterfield, VA.

According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated and her memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at Westover Hills United Methodist Church, 1705 Westover Hills Blvd., Richmond, VA, 23225. Burial of her ashes will be at the Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Midland, VA. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Assn. or to TIP Hospice.
