The Beginning of Gina

The song "Gina" filled our home.  Our mother was Johnny Mathis' Number One fan and in 1962, he released one of his many hit singles "Gina".   Of course, my parents changed her name to "Regina" to stick with the fine tradition of "R" beginning first names like Richard or Robert.

No matter, Gina was the fairest of them all.  Gina could understand multi-sides of any argument and could pick the "right" one.  Of course, this trait goes well with...

Gina was the queen of one-liners.  She could easily slice up any rookie with her sharp, biting tongue.  Never wanted to be the poor man getting hit with her humor.  Never heckle a heckler.

All of my kids loved Gina because she was the fun-est.  Gina embraced their celebrations as if they were hers.

My wife, Jamie, will sorely miss their marathon coaching sessions where the women folk could talk about their victories, lessons learned, beauty tips, and social etiquettes.
